“I am abroad, so I cannot sign my deed of sale with my notaire…” FALSE!
Since the end of 2020, it has been possible, even from abroad, to sign a power of attorney before a notaire for a purchase, a sale, a gift or a succession, for example.
Notaires have already been equipped for several years with the electronic deed, that is to say a deed without paper. In practice, you sign on a tablet in front of your notaire, just once, instead of initialling and signing dozens of pages with a pen!
The remote deed goes further: this new method avoids deadlocks when one of the parties is stuck abroad, especially during the Covid period, when international travel is severely restricted.
The remote electronic authentic power of attorney allows you to meet the notaire by videoconference. Everything then happens as in a face-to-face appointment: the notaire reads the power of attorney, checks the identity and consent of the person signing, gives all useful and necessary advice, then collects their electronic signature.
As this is an authentic deed with greater legal force, a state-of-the-art secure system guarantees the integrity and confidentiality of its content.
And you, have you ever used the electronic or remote deed with your notaire?
