It has already been announced that from 1 September 2023, once you have signed with your notaire, you will no longer need to go to the Cour d'Appel (Court of Appeal) to obtain the certification label known as the Apostille, nor to complete the so-called legalisation procedure with the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

You will be able to request the Apostille (or legalisation) directly from your notaire, and obtain it within three days, electronically for deeds that are already digital.

The Conseil Supérieur du Notariat (the national body of French notaires) is responsible for keeping the central digital register of all legalisations and apostilles issued electronically. A national database of public signatures will centralise the information needed to verify public documents.

Your notaire will therefore assist you until your formalities are completed for the use of your deeds abroad, making the whole administrative procedure easier.
